In order to handle the increasing number of commuters using Egypt’s public transportation system, 15 new metro stations will be built throughout the nation in 2023, bringing the total to 89.
The new metro stations will effectively connect Egyptian towns while easing congestion as part of the vision of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development and the Ministry of Transportation to reduce carbon emissions by encouraging people to use public transportation rather than petrol-powered cars.
With four stations—Gamal Abdel-Nasser in Downtown Cairo, Maspero, Safaa Hegazy in Zamalek, and Kit Kat in Imbaba—the 3A line has began its trial run.
