AFRICA’S FIRST DRIVERLESS METRO WILL BE BUILT IN CAIRO
The first driverless metro in Africa is about to transform Egypt’s urban infrastructure. After agreeing to a new framework with Egypt’s National Authority of Tunnels, the French producer of rolling stock Alstom will build and maintain Cairo’s new Metro Line 6, which will be 35 kilometres long and include 26 stations.
Up to 1.6 million people can travel on Cairo Metro Line 6, which will relieve Metro Line 1’s congestion and make it easier for more people to get about the city. 12 of the 26 stations, which are planned to travel via Subra El Kheima, New Maadi, and Ain El Sokhna road, will be subterranean.
