A NEW ORGAN TRANSPLANT UNIT WILL BE ESTABLISHED IN AL KASR AL AINY HOSPITAL

At Kasr Al Ainy Hospital, a new organ transplant facility is being created. This unit will be fully equipped to provide liver, kidney, lung, and heart transplantations from living or deceased donors. Within the next few months, the facility will be prepared to take patients.

Egyptian residents will be able to formally express their desire to become organ donors according to a new form that was released by the Ministry of Health and Population in November 2022. The option to donate organs has been debated in Egypt for many years, with many viewpoints and formal mechanisms put in place to regulate it. The form was seen as a step toward giving more Egyptians agency over the decision.
There is still a long way to go before Egypt has its first organ transplant center, which will have 12,000 operating rooms and be the biggest in the Middle East. While waiting for the bigger, more advanced facility to be available for patients, this new section at Kasr Al Ainy Hospital will assist in performing countless organ transplants.
