A RECENT CAPMAS STUDY DEMONSTRATES THAT EGYPTIANS CAN’T STOP DOOM-SCROLLING

It would appear that we’re not the only ones who dodge their nightly episodes of existential dread by doom-scrolling at one in the morning. Egypt’s number of mobile internet subscribers increased by 12.5% in 2022, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS), up through October.

In 2021, 61.8 million individuals used mobile internet, and in the previous year, 7.7 million more people used their phones to browse the internet. As a result, 69.5 million people now constantly check their social media feeds or watch exaggerated reaction videos. On the other side, from 101.4 million in October of the previous year to 99.1 million in October of 2022, there were a 2.3% decrease in cell phone subscribers.
