“ANIMALIA” HAS BEEN PICKED UP FOR DISTRIBUTION BY PRODUCER MOHAMED HEFZY
The Egyptian production company Film Clinic, led by producer Mohamed Hefzy, has acquired the rights to distribute the critically acclaimed sci-fi film “Animalia” in the Middle East and North Africa. “Animalia” was directed by the French-Moroccan Sofia Alaoui and premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2023.
The movie tells the tale of a Moroccan woman who becomes entangled in an alien invasion while pregnant. The movie was commended for its original take on the sci-fi genre and for shedding attention on cultural and societal issues that are particularly important for women in the region, earning it the Jury Prize for Artistic Vision.
