ANYONE YOUNGER THAN 16 CAN NEVER BUY TOBACCO PRODUCTS UNDER NEW CALIFORNIA BILL

Current smokers would be able to continue purchasing tobacco products under Assembly Bill 935, but anyone currently under the age of 16 would never be permitted to purchase tobacco.

For a whole new generation, it would virtually phase out cigarette consumption in California.

The proposed legislation will penalise shops for selling tobacco products rather than consumers. This would be accomplished by the proposed law featuring a number of monetary fines and licence suspensions for retailers who violate it. With regard to tobacco sales, the measure would specifically add Article 6 to Chapter 1 of Part 3 of Division 103 of the Health and Safety Code.

Sales of marijuana, however, would be exempt from the ban. Legislators argued that nicotine’s compulsive nature forces young people to get addicted. The High Times
