By 2030, Egypt will house one of the largest wind farms in the world
One of the biggest wind farms in the world, with investments totaling USD 11 billion, will be located in Egypt by 2030.
A group led by Egypt’s Hassan Allam Utilities and Infinity Power Holding, as well as Abu Dhabi’s Future Energy Company Masdar, will carry out the project. The wind farm’s construction is anticipated to start in 2024.
The wind farm will be able to produce 10 gigawatts. The energy will be sold to the Egyptian government, which might export some of it to Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Libya, Europe, and other countries.
By the end of 2022, the firms want to have secured the necessary land for the project, which is now being considered for two areas in the Western Desert: one in Aswan and the other next to Minya Both areas are perfect for building wind farms because they have winds that can reach 10 m/s.
