DR ZAHI HAWAS AND HIS TEAM DISCOVER NEW ARCHAEOLOGICAL DISCOVERIES

Dr. Zahi Hawass, an Egyptian archaeologist, stated on his Facebook page that his excavation team and the Supreme Council of Antiquities have found numerous new finds of ancient artefacts from the Fifth and Sixth Dynasties.

The crew assumed that the location held a sizable cemetery after their explorations resulted in the discovery of a number of Old Kingdom tombs.

One of the graves that was found was that of a priest in the King Pepi pyramid complex, which also has nine sculptures and a massive, rectangular, limestone sarcophagus that belonged to a guy named Heka-shepes and was sealed with mortar 4300 years ago.
Another fascinating find was a mummy wrapped in gold leaf, which is said to be the oldest and best-preserved mummy ever discovered in Egypt.

The researchers also discovered several amulets, stone jars, objects for daily life, statues of deities, and numerous exquisite ceramics.

Every day that passes allows us to learn more about how really clever our Egyptian ancestors were, even if they may have led great lives. Just think of it as a perpetual present!
