The BRICS group invited Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to join the alliance, with their participation effective from January 1, 2024.
Argentina, Iran, and Ethiopia have also been invited to join the organization, turning the group into a bloc that controls nearly a third of the global economy.
With this expansion, which is the first since 2010, the date South Africa joined the group, the number of member countries will increase to 11, after it included Russia, South Africa, Brazil, India, and China.
