EGYPT POPULATION TO REACH 157 MILLION BY 2050

According to a forecast made public by Egypt’s Population Council, 157 million people will live in Egypt by 2050 if families continue to have more than two children each.

The council explained that by that point, the population would only be 142 million people if Egyptian families continued to have two children each.

Improvements in Egypt’s health circumstances, including a drop in the death rate from 32 per 1,000 people in 2010 to 10 per 1,000 people now, are some of the contributing factors to these results. By 2100, the death rate is predicted to be six per 1,000 people.

The Population Council claims that there have been problems putting regulations in place to deal with Egypt’s overpopulation.
