EGYPT SUPER STARS PARTICIPATE IN THE CELEBRATION OF HANI SHENOUDA’S 80TH BIRTHDAY
The General Entertainment Authority of Saudi Arabia is assembling the biggest names in Egyptian music for a special performance in Riyadh to pay tribute to Hani Shenouda, a celebrated composer and musician from Egypt.
Elite Egyptian musicians were asked to perform together on stage at a star-studded tribute performance called “Memory” in honour of Hani Shenouda, who turned 80 years old. It’s the first time Amr Diab, Mohammed Mounir, the “King,” Angham, Ahmed Adaweya, Mai Farouk, Moustafa Hagag, and Gen-favorite z’s Egyptian rock band Cairokee have ever performed together.
One of the pioneers of Egyptian current music is Hani Shenouda. Not only has he created and led one of Egypt’s first modern bands, ‘Al Massriyeen’ in 1977, but he also composed several iconic film scores which we still connect with today, such as ‘Shams El Zanaty’, ‘Ghareeb F Beity’, and ‘Al Mashbouh’. His music also spread far beyond Egypt’s boundaries, making a notable appearance in the well-known American sitcom “Ramy,” which included songs like “Louga 79,” among others.
Many successful Egyptian artists owe their careers to Shenouda. With his debut album “Ya Tareek,” he catapulted “Al Hadaba,” the most admired Amr Diab, to stardom in Cairo from Port Said. In his album “3lmony Eneik,” he also made Mohamed Mounir famous.
