The first satellite specifically created to measure climate change throughout Africa will be launched in cooperation with China, according to plans made public by the Egyptian Syndicate of Engineers’ Space Committee. The decision to launch this satellite coincides with the COP27 UN Climate Change Conference, which will begin on November 6th and is rapidly approaching.
In order to better manage the repercussions of the climate problem before they become too harmful, the satellite will monitor erosion, sea levels, and desertification across the African continent. This is a huge step toward resolving climate issues, especially in the countries most vulnerable to climate change’s unfavourable effects.
Ahmed Farag, head of the Syndicate of Engineers’ Space Committee, stated during the conference on October 22 that a prototype of the satellitethe plans and objectives of this new project would be displayed in Sharm El Sheikh at COP27.
