Egyptian-Austrian actress and author Amira Elsayed has joined the cast of HBO’s upcoming series Spy/Master. The Cold War-era series, which tells the story of a Romanian and West German secret agent in the 1970s, will premiere on May 19.
El Sayed will appear in five of the six episodes of the series. “Spy/Master” was produced by Adina Sadeanu and Kirsten Peter, directed by Christopher Smith for Romania’s HBO, and had already won the Berlinale Series Award (2023) for its first two episodes.
Based in Germany, she grew up in Alexandria, where she previously co-starred with famous American actor Tom Hanks in A Hologram for the King (2016).
