2019 saw the awarding of the Pulitzer Prize for foreign reporting to Yemeni Maad al-Zikry and Egyptian photojournalists Nariman El-Mofty and Maggie Michael for their coverage of the Yemeni civil war. By achieving this, they made history by being the first female photojournalists from Egypt to ever receive a Pulitzer.
For their coverage of the conflict in Ukraine, an Associated Press team that included Nariman El-Mofty, Evgeniy Maloletka from Ukraine, Bernat Armangue and Emilio Morenatti from Spain, Felipe Dana from Brazil, Rodrigo Abd from Argentina, and Vadim Ghirda from Romania won the Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News Photography.
