A year after its debut, the hit song “El Bakht” by rapper Wegz is still breaking records and has recently surpassed 184.2 million YouTube views. The trap musician’s foray into other genres with “El Bakht” sees him adopting a romantic pop sound that has been resonating around the area for the previous year.
The song also topped the charts on streaming service Anghami in 11 Arab nations in 2022, shattering the platform’s previous record for the most streams ever accumulated in a calendar year. The MENA region’s most streamed artist on Spotify in 2022 was Wegz himself.
