EL GOUNA TO HOST THE FIRST INTERNATIONAL FISHING TOURNAMENT

El Gouna’s first-ever international fishing competition is about to get underway. The Orascom Development International Fishing Tournament, sponsored by El Gouna & Makadi and run by Red Sea Anglers, will feature 14 teams from around the world trying to catch the biggest and baddest fish in the Red Sea.
The rivalry is fierce with four teams from Egypt, three from Italy, three from Saudi Arabia, and one each from Lebanon, South Africa, and the United Kingdom. On February 16 and 17, fishermen will travel to sea for two days of fishing as part of the competition.
On February 18th, after the boats have returned to land, there will be a weigh-in and trophy presentation on the marina at the slipway. The anglers will then consider the difficulties they overcame and the abilities they displayed as they are evaluated on the calibre of their catch.
High-profile VIPs have attended the competition, including Thamer Habis, CEO of the Saudi Arabia Water Sport & Diving Federation, Andries Maree, President of the South African Angling Federation, and Massimo Brogna, IGFA President Europe & Mediterranean. The El Gouna international fishing competition will be recalled as a celebration of the Red Sea’s beauty and the sport of fishing, with passions as high as our sails.
