(FFF) REFUSES TO ALLOW MUSLIM PLAYERS BREAK THEIR FAST DURING EVENING MATCHES IN RAMADAN

The French Football Federation (FFF), in contrast to English football leagues, has disallowed Muslim players from breaking their fast during evening games during the holy month of Ramadan, stating the idea of football neutrality. The Federal Commission of Referees of the FFF prohibited any match “interruptions” to enable Muslim players to break their fast, stating that it is against the provisions of the FFF’s statutes, in an email sent to French football officials.
