Written by The Dose Team

Heba Saadieh makes history as the first veiled Palestinian referee to work in the Women’s World Cup. She is joined by an increasing number of female referees who are altering the narrative and fabric of the football globe.

Saadieh was born to Palestinian parents but grew up in Syria, a country home to hundreds of thousands of Palestinian refugees, specialised in physical education while studying at Damascus University.
