INSIDE THE METAVERSE CITY “METATUT”, EGYPTIAN SOPRANO AMIRA SELIM PERFORMS A SONG IN THE ANCIENT EGYPTIAN LANGUAGE

Amira Selim, a singer from Egypt, is bringing her love of classical Egyptian music to Metatut, the first Egyptian city in the metaverse. Selim has taken on another ancient Egyptian song, “Merut Uk,” which translates to “My Love to You,” and will play it live in Metatut’s virtual cityscape on December 28. She previously performed the ancient Egyptian hymn “A Reverence for Isis” at the Pharaohs’ Golden Parade in April 2021.

A romantic song called “Merut Uk” was created from an old Egyptian poetry. In order to sing the hymn correctly and analyse its linguistic components, Selim collaborated with Yasmine El Shazly, an Egyptologist and the Deputy Director for Research and Programs at the American Research Center in Egypt.
To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the discovery of King Tutankhamun’s tomb, the ancient Egypt-inspired design company Tutera introduced Metatut. It is based on the concept of what it might look like if King Tut rebuilt the ancient city of Amarna, which his father, Akhenaten, had established as the new capital of ancient Egypt. The city of the metaverse has an art gallery, an exhibition hall, and a conference and performance theatre.
