KARNAK TEMPLE’S GREAT HYPOSTYLE HALL UNDERGOES RESTORATION

The Great Hypostyle Hall in Luxor, which is tucked away inside the famous Karnak Temple, is currently receiving its second phase of restoration, which will restore even more grandeur to the city’s historic treasures.

Through a clearing and purifying procedure, the initiative will return the walls’, columns’, and the pharaonic inscriptions inscribed into them to their original colours. There are 134 inscribed columns in the hall, 28 of which were restored during the first phase in 2021, and work is still being done on the remaining 12.

Along with a group of 30 Egyptian archaeologists, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities is in charge of the project.
