KHALY BALAK MN ZUZU and GHARAM FL KARNAK to be screened at the Red Sea International Film Festival
Two iconic Egyptian movies, Khaly Balak Mn Zuzu (1972) and Gharam Fl Karnak (1967), have been in theatres for more than 50 years. They’ll be shown again this December at the Red Sea International Film Festival, this time completely repaired and digitalized by Egypt’s Media Production City and the Arab Radio and Television Network of the Ministry of Culture.
In the musical adventure “Gharam El Karnak,” renowned Egyptian dancer Mahmoud Reda and his folk dance ensemble journey across Upper Egypt, bringing ancient Egypt’s sites to the public’s attention.
Meanwhile, “Khaly Balak Mn Zuzu” is a popular Egyptian television show that centres on the titular character and a family of performers figure Zuzu, portrayed by the adored Souad Hosny, who makes an effort to conceal their line of work from her own social group.
The Red Sea International Film Festival, which takes place from December 1 to December 10 in Jeddah, will honour Egypt’s cinematic heritage like it did the year before by hosting several screenings and seminars.
