MARWAN MOUSSA TO STAR IN “SMOKEY EYES” THE FIRST SHORT FILM DIRECTED BY ALI ALI
With the release of “Smokey Eyes,” renowned rapper Marwan Moussa and advertising mastermind Ali Ali will cross several firsts off of their respective bucket lists. It will be Moussa’s acting debut as well as Ali Ali’s first time directing a short film.
The rapper Moussa and director Ali Ali previously collaborated on the music video for the popular song “Tesla,” which saw the rapper take a new cinematic visual direction in the form of a sombre prison drama. This is their first time working together on a movie, though.
One of the top ten most-awarded commercial directors in the world is Ali Ali. Never Say No to Panda, his feature film debut, became one of the most watched commercials of all time on YouTube after receiving over 90 million views and winning a Gold Lion at Cannes.
Hassan Abouelrouss, an Egyptian actor, is the lead of “Smokey Eyes,” which was written by Nancy Ali and directed by Pierre Mouarkech, a cinematographer based in Beirut who frequently works with Ali Ali on his movies. The remainder of the cast and the film’s plot have not yet been revealed, though.
