MOHAMED HAMZA BECOMES THE FIRST ARAB TO WIN THE FENCING WORLD CUP

As the first African and Arab athlete to win a gold medal at the Coupe du Monde, also known as the Fencing World Cup, which was held in Acapulco, Mexico this year, Egyptian fencer Mohamed Hamza creates history. In a thrilling final, the Egyptian champion squared off against Ka Long Cheung of Hong Kong before winning with a total of 32 points scored throughout the competition.

 

Hamza, who is 22 years old, is rated 11th globally. He has competed for the Egyptian men’s foil team at the Rio Olympics in 2016 and the Tokyo Olympics in 2020.
