The decision by Spotify to remove the well-known Palestinian song “Dammi Falastini” from its site has generated controversy and criticism. After Mohammed Assaf, the singer, was charged with antisemitism, the song, which translates to “My blood is Palestinian,” was taken down. In response, the “Palestine Chronicle” received a statement from a PR firm on behalf of Spotify MENA in which it was made clear that the distributor, not Spotify, had made the decision to remove the content.
