Mostafa Waziri, the secretary general of Egypt’s Supreme Council of Antiquities, reported the recent discovery of an ancient Egyptian animal embalming facility near Saqqara.
An archaeological mission was launched in response to recent finds of numerous mummified animals to look for the location of a local embalming workshop where they might have been preserved. Every tool the ancient Egyptians employed in their mummification process is present in the recently found workshop.
