In response to customers’ desire to direct their assets in foreign currencies and take advantage of investment opportunities in Egypt, NBE announced the issuing of two new three-year savings certificates in US dollars. Furthermore, the bank will provide Egyptians working abroad personal loans in Egyptian pounds while guaranteeing their paychecks.
The first dollar certificate, “Ahli Plus,” is a three-year certificate with a 7% annual return in the same currency every three months. The certificate also allows for borrowing up to 50% of its value in Egyptian pounds for investment purposes, up to a maximum of Pound10 million, with a 2.25% return below the central bank’s lending rate.
The second dollar certificate, ‘Al-Ahli Immediately,’ is likewise a three-year certificate, but with a 9% annual return rate that is released in advance in Egyptian pounds for the entire duration, at 27% of the certificate’s value for the full period.
