OXFORD LAUNCHES EGYPT SEASON IN CELEBRATION OF THE COUNTRY’S RICH HERITAGE

Written by The Dose Team

Egypt Season is a brand-new programme from the Oxford Research Centre in Humanities (TORCH). TORCH will tell the story of Egypt through the ages on November 18 at the Ashmolean Museum of Art and Archaeology in Oxford.
It will cover everything from ancient times to the present and take a deep dive into the diverse country using cutting-edge technology, academic research, and inventive artistic techniques.

In order to highlight the vigour with which Egypt acts as a cradle for civilization, the multimedia discourse dissects centuries’ worth of documentation, art, film, and science.

The world has collectively turned its attention to Egyptian history since November 22, 1922, when King Tutankhamun’s tomb was rediscovered. In spite of this, The Oxford Research Centre in Humanities (TORCH) is expanding on such focus and plans to bring together artists and academics to honour Egypt and its global impact.

Working with experts from a range of cultural sectors, including artists of international renown, the TORCH initiative seeks to artistically contribute to public conversation. Additionally, it encourages audiences to reflect on issues and queries that are vital to the times we live in.
