In Dubai, the ‘P 7’ licence plate was sold for Dh55 million ($15 million) at an auction held at the Four Seasons hotel in Jumeirah, breaking the previous record for the most expensive licence plate in the world.
The One Billion Meals initiative, which aims to end world hunger, received over AED100 million ($27 million) from the auction, which was organised by Emirates Auction, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority, Etisalat, and Du.
To break the previous record set in 2008 when a businessman spent AED52.2 million for Abu Dhabi’s number 1 plate, several bidders engaged in a bidding war for the “P 7” plate.
