The St. Mary & St. Bishoy Church in New Cairo’s Fifth Settlement has been officially opened by Coptic Orthodox Church head Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria. A number of Coptic Orthodox Church priests and bishops were present for the inauguration ceremony.

The St. Mary & St. Bishoy Church was established in 2007 and had its main church consecrated by the pope in 2016, making it the first site of worship for Christians in the neighbourhood.
