The second iteration of the “Rowing the Nile Challenge” was announced by Egypt’s National Council for Women (NCW) in an effort to raise public awareness of different environmental and socioeconomic issues.
The effort is scheduled to travel through upper Egypt from Aswan to Ras El-Bar in Damietta, led by rowing champions Hatem Kandeel and Ibrahim Ayoob.
Along the way, they passed through Luxor, Qena, Sohag, Assiut, Minya, Beni Suef, Cairo, and Qalyubia.
The program’s active efforts to increase the financial inclusion of Egyptian women, with a focus on social empowerment and raising awareness of the socioeconomic and environmental difficulties these governorates and other rural areas confront, are in accordance with the initiative’s goals.
