SCIENTISTS NAMED A NEW COMPOUND AFTER ACTOR KEANU REEVES
German researchers gave the name Keanu Reeves to a novel chemical because it easily eradicates fungus that cause sickness. The substance, known as “Keanumycins,” is a particular kind of lipopeptide, a molecule made up of a lipid joined to a peptide.
“The lipopeptides kill so efficiently that we called them after Keanu Reeves because he, too, is incredibly lethal in his roles,” said lead author Sebastian Götze.
