Shakira was recognized at Billboard’s first Latin Women in Music gala. It appears that she drew inspiration for her acceptance speech from some of her most recent personal problems, including her highly publicized and painful breakup with her longtime husband Gerard Piqué.
The singer gave a moving speech on stage after receiving the inaugural Woman of the Year award at the inaugural gala, which was given to her by her friend and fellow Colombian musician Maluma.
