The 49th Annual Film Society Festival for Egyptian Cinema, whose management board is presided over by director of cinematography Mahmoud Abd El-Samie, has announced the start date for its 49th edition. It will run from May 6–13 at the Artistic Creativity Center, Cairo Opera House. On May 20, the awards event will take place under the direction of Dr. Nevine El-Kilani, Minister of Culture. According to Dr. El-Kilani, this festival is one of the most well-known in Egyptian cinema history because it consistently bestows awards across all cinematic subgenres. The festival is commemorating 50 years of having seen the developments in Egyptian cinema over that time period this year.
