On October 1st, more than 25 countries will compete in the Red Bull Half Court World Championship finals, which will take place on a court at the Pyramids of Giza.
Red Bull created the @redbullhalfcourt international basketball competition to inspire, assist, and empower regional streetballers all around the world. When playing on a half-court, there are only three players on each team, with one goal to shoot towards (or, well, dangle from post-epic-dunk).
The Red Bull Half Court now attracts more than 12,000 players annually, making it the most international streetball competition in the world. Both the men’s team representing Egypt, “Show Time,” and the women’s team, “Three Amigos,” are competing. Since the last time The Red Bull Half Court final, which has been played in Egypt since its beginning, was the source of a (happy) riot in Rome the previous year.
The tournament is being overseen by the Egyptian Basketball Association and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, with NBA shooting instructor Lethal Shooter also there.
The top “3-on-3” player in the world, Dusan Bulut, will perform at the championship close, which will also include Egyptian rapper Afroto, basketball player Ehab Amin, and player Nadine Al-Salawi.
