THE OLD MINISTRY OF INTERIOR HEADQUARTERS WILL BE CONVERTED INTO A STATE-OF-THE-ART INNOVATION DISTRICT
Together with A Developments, Egypt’s Sovereign Fund (TSFE) is converting the old Ministry of Interior headquarters in Abdeen, Cairo, into a cutting-edge innovation district. By providing students, entrepreneurs, and young people with a variety of facilities, including retail, technology centres and incubators, office spaces, a hotel and hospitality component, and a branch campus for IPAG Business School of Paris, this development seeks to revitalise downtown Cairo.
The goal of this development project is to protect Egypt’s historical sites while producing sustainable financial returns. It is in line with the TSFE’s investment strategy. With recent moves of several government ministries to the New Administrative Capital, Khedival Cairo is hoping to greatly benefit from the transformation of the former Ministry of Interior headquarters.
Before opening up the bidding process, the TSFE and A Developments performed technical studies and surveying to guarantee the project’s success. In order to meet the project’s worldwide sustainability and energy efficiency standards, they engaged BDP, a renowned company in the field of adaptive reuse of historic buildings. By the end of 2023, the project’s initial portion is anticipated to be finished.
