“THE SWIMMERS” MAKES A GREAT SUCSESS AS ONE OF TOP 5 MOST WATCHED FILMS ON NETFLIX GLOBALLY
The British-Syrian movie “The Swimmers” has overtaken the top five global Netflix streamers for the past week.
Following its regional premiere at the Cairo International Film Festival and its Toronto International Film Festival opening, the movie had its Netflix debut on November 24. Thousands of viewers watched it to learn about the struggles and successes of refugees as they followed sisters and swimmers Yusra and Sara Mardini as they left Syria for the 2016 Olympics.
Real-life Lebanese sisters Nathalie and Manal Eissa play the brave Mardini sisters in the Egyptian-Welsh director Sally El Hosaini’s film “The Swimmers,” which also includes Egyptian actor Ahmed Malek, Syrian actress Kinda Alloush, and Palestinian actor Ali Suliman.
