UNVEILING OF STATUE IN ASWAN HONORING HEART SURGEON DR. MAGDI YACOUB
A statue honouring famous cardiac surgeon Sir Magdi Yacoub, who established the Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation, was recently unveiled in Aswan.
During the 27th Aswan International Sculpture Symposium, Egyptian artist Nathan Doss created the 2-meter-tall sculpture. The statue, which is made of red granite, has a bust of Sir Magdi Yacoub and a heart-shaped flame that represents the surgeon’s message of healing and hope.
The Magdi Yacoub Foundation, which was established in 2008, is well known for providing free cardiac surgery and catheterization. A community in need of free, life-saving cardiac treatments was given access when the organisation opened the Aswan Heart Centre in 2009
